A Girl's 5 Greatest Battles

Every Christian Girl goes through their own personal battles...
We are all made differently, but we are all girls and I've noticed that it seems like a lot of girls my age and younger seem to go through the same things at certain points in our lives.
So I want to just give you some of those things, and some scripture that show us truth about those battles...ya may not relate but you may... we'll see!

1.Battling Our Hearts

As Girls, and Ladies our hearts have to be guarded more than men I think.
We can build up dream worlds in our hearts, and Our Hearts are easily mislead.
The world often claims that if we just follow our hearts we'll be okay.....but As a girl, how can we?
Our hearts can be led one way in the morning.....and by night it's in a totally different direction.
What does God's word say about our hearts?

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
Jeremiah 17:9

Sound like something you can follow? Nope....
Our hearts need to be led, not followed. God knows our hearts, He is the One to turn to...He is the One to follow, He will lead you.

Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
Psalm 139:23

...for the LORD sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.
1Samuel 16:7

Give God your heart, your desires, your dreams. Lay them at the Lord's feet.
When I'm talking about your heart, I mean your thoughts and feelings.
Our mind can be our greatest battle zone, if our hearts are not right our mind will drift away to places it shouldn't go.

One way to guard our hearts, and help us fight this battle of feelings. Is to stay way away from things that cause Our Hearts to long for things we know should not be.
For example, if we know there is a certain kind of man God wants us to be with (a Godly Christian) and we are waiting for God to bring that man into our lives. Then if we see the wrong kind of man giving us "the eye" we shouldn't kindly flirt back. Remember ladies, our eyes can do far more than what people give them credit.
Eye contact can be very powerful, so be careful how you look into men's eyes, especially if you know that's not the man God would have you attract.

So yes, stay clear of Guys that are not saved, or are not living how a Godly man should...Because in a girl's heart, we have the desire to be loved...do we not? And our hearts, if they are not focused on God and his standard and way....then we can talk our hearts into loving anyone, because we can look past everything and see what we want to see....especially if the guy is flattering and helping the situation.

That also applies to the girls that are committed to a guy in some way, married, or in a serious relationship. Once God has given you the man He made for you, and you say I do. You stop looking around, sadly that doesn't mean the psycho guys will magically go away, some will, haha but not all....so you still have to guard your heart. As much as you love your guy, the devil can still put someone in your life to flatter you and make your heart flutter and feel good. So remember run, like Joseph...because your heart is weak, don't even try to just be close friends, our hearts are easily knit with others. So be always on guard of a man's intentions, and how yours are coming across.

I've said many times on here, how music affects our heart and the way we think, so I wont harp on that.
But check your music out ladies, if your listening to Love/Romantic music all the time because it makes you feel good, it's going to make it a whole lot harder to keep your heart.
And if your reading trashy romance novels, and even Christian romance novels...well they just paint the pictures for you, and leave your mind longing for a dream world, that's really hard to face real life with.
Your Heart is a huge battle, but a battle worth winning. A victory of giving your heart to God in every way...equals perfect peace and He fills those longings and desires!

Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
Psalms 37:3,4,5

2.Battling Discontentment

This could also be a battle of the heart, But to focus on something all girls struggle with is our favorite verse we all love to quote when we join the National Man Haters Club, and we need no one, and are Perfectly content in our singleness...

Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am,
therewith to be content.
Philippians 4:11

Don't lie, you've quoted this when you know in your heart you were not content. hahaha But it helps to claim that verse, to be content in that tiny moment.
Not just in singleness, but in everything we girls find it very hard to be content. When were little we want to dress like our big sisters, when were in middle school, oh to be in high school, when were in high school..oh to get rid of braces and frizzy hair and pointless Algebra...College...Nawww I'll just wait for my guy....okkk still waiting.....
And it continues our entire life, God gives us a Man just like we prayed for...ok Lord where's that ring?? This guy has No knowledge of commitment, hurry! Hurry! We race to the altar... Finally were married, perfectly content right? Nope we want children, God gives us children, we want them to hurry and eat and walk and we are constantly waiting for the next thing.
I mean think of Eve, she had everything! The perfect man, the perfect place to live, fellowship with God, everything was perfect....what got her into trouble? She suddenly found herself discontent, and wanted more.

Now we ladies can get the job done, we are not content to just sit around...when we see a need, we don't wait, we just do it. God definitely uses us, when we find our help meet to help him get his job done. Because we can push(gently and meekly mind you) and encourage our man to be all that God has created him to be!

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
Psalm 27:14

But the Devil can also use discontentment, here's his main tools...
FaceBook*
Blogs*
Christian Romance Novels*
Why would these things make us so discontent? Have you ever found yourself depressed after you checked your wonderful world of faces(facebook lol)? Or after you read all these perfect blogs, of perfect people, with perfect hair and smiles??? Or after reading those chapters in our book of wonderful men who never make mistakes that fall in love with a hopeless romantic woman and they all find a deeper love in Christ...together....romantically..."sigh".....
We compare our selves to everyone on facebook, if you're single it seems like everyone is married with 2 kids or just got engaged with a HUGE ring!
If you're a mom, everyone is raising their children better than you.
There's always a prettier girl(who probably has photoshopped her pix..just saying) there is always some kind of drama, and you can so easily get trapped into it.
I've been lied about, blocked, and have had dramatic messages sent to me just for commenting on someones status. Facebook is a good way to talk to friends, and I have mine up for the same friends I started it for... I only look at theirs, and my little nephew Jeremiah's pictures....But I try and stay away from any drama.
If facebook makes you compare yourself to all your peeps on there, half, probably have no clue who you really are...Get off!! Especially if people are making you feel that way on purpose.

Blogs, I know alot of my friends have compared their courtship/dating experience to others on blogs. They think something is wrong when their guy isn't moving as fast, as someone elses on a blog. Or if their courtship doesn't work out, heaven forbid...their lives are ruined because on every blog it works out.
Listen Your wedding, Your guy, and Your relationship is Yours....
Don't look at blog after blog comparing yourself, or your guy to what someone else is doing or did.
God has different plans for you, than anyone else. You're special, there is no set way of how your relationship will work out, that's whats so awesome! Just enjoy every bit of what God gives you in the moment. My sister has an amazing Godly guy, she had a beautiful wedding, and wonderful love story... It all happened in a blink of an eye....and Like a miracle God answered all her prayers. But I'm not looking for the same thing. Because God has for me...what He has for me. It could be slow and steady, it could totally come out of no where. But I can not compare it to what God gave someone else.
That'd be like a spoiled little kid comparing a rare, wonderful gift her Father gave her, to something one of her friends has...Totally Un-Grateful right?

As for the Christian Romance Novels, you know what I think of them....
It's like avoiding reality, to cling to a dream world....which in return results in being discontent with what God has given you.

Contentment is hard to find, and hard to keep...But get off of those things, and look at what you do have.
And enjoy the moment of each season you are in, don't rush to the next...and then the next...

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
Eccleciastes 3:1

3.Battling the Tongue

Okay this one is harder for some of us....Our Little bitty Tongue!! Our Mouths!!!
We get into more trouble with our big mouths than anything I know. We can cut down, tear apart, destroy, criticize, change a mind, persuade in the wrong direction, talk back, talk dirty, bring shame to our God, ruin a life, mess up a relationship, nag, complain....Do you get it? Our tongues, as girls are a Huge battle!

The Bible says

I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.
Psalm 39:1

He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.
In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.
The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.
The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.
Proverbs 10:18 (read the entire chapter for more about our tongue)

Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
James 3:5 (read the whole chapter as well)

There are so many verses in God's word about watching what we say...I think the Lord knew what a battle it would be to control our tongues, don't you?
As Ladies, our words are so important! We can change lives just by what we say, and how we say it!
Think of all the things we could be doing with our tongues...
Like praying, going to God and calling out our friends, family, lost souls, our church, in prayer, covering those we love around us in prayer, encouraging, giving hope to the hopeless, witnessing to those around us, laughing, bringing smiles to everyone's face around us, counseling, building up our men (That's one thing I love to see, is when a wife is constantly telling her husband how great he is, and she means it...it's like the husband is suddenly 10 feet tall, because his wife sees all the great things God has for him, and encourages him in that direction....works with your fathers too....believe in your Dad because He is your prince right now, pray for him, let him know you think he is the best daddy in the world and show him especially if he is a pastor that he can do all things through Christ and you want to help him, serve beside him!) we could be singing for the Lord, Our voices by just the tone could show the sweetness of the Lord,
to everyone around us.

Girls we are Daughters of the King, our words should be no different during the week as they are at church on Sunday. If we can stop the ghetto gang talk, and the worlds slang, and words we know are wrong for church....then don't you think we can stop it around our friends at school?
We shouldn't have to be loud, to show our strength to everyone...we should be meek, controlling that inner strength. We don't have to have the last word, or a great come-back.
We should be the peace-makers, We are Christians, Child of the most High God...do we talk like one?

Our words are powerful, and can be used to make or break a life.
We need to take a deep look at how our voice is being heard, and how our words are reflecting our Savior.

4. Battling Bitterness
We girls struggle with bitterness, because we don't forget very easily... It is very hard for us to forgive and forget, and let it go...We love to try and hold on to something, and try our very best to fix it!
It's hard for us to just let go....especially when someone hurts us.
Situations in our lives will either make us Better.....or Bitter.
It's our decision, we can walk away from something Praise God for what He did do...and gain Wisdom from the experience, or we can keep a hatred in our hearts for a certain person...We can go over and over in our minds what we should have done, or said, and what another person should have done or said.
We tell everyone that it's over with, and you've moved on. But you know your heart still holds bitterness in a certain area.

Scripture says..
Let all BITTERNESS, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
Ephesians 4:13

Put it away from you....God knows how bitterness is consuming, how it takes over your life.
He understands your broken heart tho, He knows your heart remember?

The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
Psalm 34:18

So He will heal that broken heart, but you have to let go of the hurt, and any one or thing you may be holding bitterness against... Take it to the Lord, forgive those in your heart you know you haven't truly forgiven.
Once you let it go, ask God to forgive you for holding things in your heart from Him, ask God to take the bitterness away, and forgive those you have held a bitterness against so long in your heart...Trust me you'll be able to pray alot easier, and a peace takes place of that bitterness!!
Let it make you Better, not Bitter!

5.Battling Self

Focusing on our self, Huge battle....but when we conquer this one...it kinda takes care of the rest.
Because when we are focused on someone other than our self,
we think about how all the other things affect others.
It's not about you!!! Have you ever heard that? When a friend is telling you her problems, and you all of sudden flip it to you and how you can totally relate because you have the same problem!!
But it's not about you, You aren't focused on helping your friend, you are thinking about your problem...
Every bad situation in someones life, you switch it around to you...and how it affects you.

We all have that come up a little in our minds, but some of us can quickly push it aside..and re-focus on the person and their need. But some of us, it's not so easy...they dwell on themselves, when it really has nothing to do with them at all. They could be encouraging and praying for that person, but instead they are worrying about what if this happened to them.

Our lives, are filled with worry, fear, and doubt....why? Because we are solely focused on Me, Myself, and I! It's no fun being focused on self, living for self...
 What does my Bible say?

And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow me.
Luke 9:23

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:20

As Dr.Lee Roberson used to say, Die to Self....and be Filled with the Holy Spirit.
Pretty much the solution to everything!

Girls, don't focus on Self...Focus on God, then Others, then you can worry about your self...if you still have time. Die Daily...It's not a one time thing, Daily Die to Self!
Well these are Battles we all face at some point....I hope this has helped a little, at least I know the scripture can help...whether my words can or not.
God can give you Victory over each battle you face, just keep fighting!!
