A few months ago I had something happen in my own personal life, something that was just kind of between me and God. No one knew everything going on inside of me, and I felt like I couldn't talk to anyone about this...
Which was hard for me! I love to seek godly counsel! I love going to my Mama(who is also my Pastor's wife) and just spilling my heart and letting her fix all my problems!
I love venting and discussing life's problems with my sisters and hearing their witty responses and advice.
I love talking to Christian friends, I love getting advice from older wiser Christian people. But this was different...
There were some things in my heart that just couldn't be spoken, some things only meant for God's ears. I would cry in my shower every night over the issues I was facing, I wanted a counselor, someone to fix this certain situation for me, I needed someone to vent to, to lay my problems in their lap and walk away...
Suddenly there in the midst of my teary raccoon mascara eye face, I looked in the mirror and realized I was asking God for something He was trying to give all along!
He is a wonderful and mighty Counselor..
I had come to rely on the counsel of others so much, I had stop even trying to get my help from God!
I mean really how many of us do that?? We want to hear an audible voice solving our problems, we need to share our problems with others because honestly it just feels better letting it all out and having someone agree, or listen, or even just having them know what's going on makes us feel like everythings going to be okay!
But there comes a time when something in life may hit you, be it a heart problem,a sin problem, a act of another against you, a negative thought life, a hurt, a struggle,something.. something that should only be spoken to God, because He's the only one who'll understand and can fix it.
That's where I was, and that's what I needed... I had been complaining to my Jesus and there He stood with open arms begging me to lay it at His feet!
Needless to say I had a moment(a falling on my knees, crying out to God moment) I was just ignoring His counsel... ignoring His wisdom, ignoring His help!
How stupid of me... as awesome as it is to talk to my husband, my mama, my daddy, my sisters, my Christian friends, their wisdom is nothing compared to God's! Their fellowship, and compassion is squat compared to my Lord's!
That night I believe for the first time I took His counsel, without someone's help, I took His word and His spirit, nailed my problems to the cross and walked away!
Now before all the haters get on here and say that Im saying I don't need godly counsel, or I think Im super spiritual, or whatever else they may say lol..
I'm simply saying lets stop ignoring our God! Lets stop putting Him on the backburner until after we've talked to someone else! He is such a powerful counselor, a healer, and mighty God! Go to Him and He'll hear you and help you!
...and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6
